Hi! I'm Pat
I research nonlinear partial and ordinary differential equations that model dispersive wave phenomena.
I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of California, Merced.
I was previously an INI-Simon's Postdoctoral Fellow at the Isaac Newton Institute, University of Cambridge and a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at North Carolina State University, working with Professor Michael Shearer.. I participated in the semester program on Dispersive Hydrodynamics. During the spring semester of 2023, I visited the Mathematics of Complex and Nonlinear Phenomena Group at Northumbria University.

I received my B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Seattle University in 2014. After finishing my BS, I went to study Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder, where I was a member of the Dispersive Hydrodynamics Laboratory. I finished my PhD in December 2019 with my thesis titled Generalized Riemann Problems in Dispersive Hydrodynamics.
